Hi everyone! It’s that time again to share with you all the games I’m looking forward to the most that release next month, especially one in particular! If you’re interested in games that include management, exploring the hardships of healing, and/or require great teamwork with your favorite Player 2, continue reading below (:
Two Point Museum

When I was a kid, I was OBSESSED with single-player games such as RollerCoaster Tycoon, so Two Point Museum definitely caught my eye! If you also love playing the Tycoon games or if you want to level up from playing store management games, I think Two Point Museum would be a great challenge for you.
Unlike the usual store management game, your museum guests’ happiness isn’t your only responsibility. In order to run a successful museum, you’ll have to preside over the following:
- Staff management
- Guest management
- Money management

You will also be able to unlock different types of museums such as Marine Life, Supernatural, and Prehistory. While these museums are fun on their own, the most interesting part is when you’re able to combine them! For example, if you combine a Marine Life and Supernatural museum, you can discover new aquatic species like the Swim Reaper.

Split Fiction

If you are looking for a new co-op game to play with your Player 2, look no further! The studio that created It Takes Two, the 2021 Game of the Year Winner, is coming out with Split Fiction. I am currently playing It Takes Two with my older brother (yes, I know we’re incredibly late with jumping on the bandwagon) and we are both having loads of fun together. Therefore, fingers crossed that Split Fiction will be just as good or even better.
While it doesn’t look like Split Fiction will be as cozy and cute as It Takes Two, I think it comes with some interesting new twists. Instead of playing as a married couple who is on the brink of a divorce, you’ll play as two strangers, Mio and Zoe, who are both trying to get their stories published for the first time by a new tech company. What’s cool about this new tech company is that they can actually bring stories to life through simulations. However, it turns out that this tech company isn’t that great after all because they force Zoe and Mio into a simulation of their own stories in an attempt to imprison them and steal their ideas.

As the title suggests, in Split Fiction, you’ll be thrown into two vastly different worlds. Mio is a sci-fi writer while Zoe is a fantasy writer, so because they were forced into the same simulation, you’ll get to experience both of their stories. With Mio’s story, you’ll experience a futuristic world full of flying cars, droids, and massive, killer machines. In Zoe’s story, you’ll experience a world full of fantastical creatures such as dragons, giants, and fairies.

Sugardew Island

If you are a creature of habit and enjoy sticking to the tried and true cozy farming sims, Sugardew Island is a must-have single-player game for you next month. Most importantly, if you aren’t a huge fan of in-game time like me, the best part about this game is that there is none! You don’t have to feel rushed to get everything you want done by a specific time and truly relax with Sugardew Island. You’ll only move on to the next day when you let your character go to sleep. A demo is currently available for this game on Steam, so you can try it before you buy it!
Along with the usual farming (raising both crops and animals) and resource gathering, Sugardew Island also has store management and the ability to build romantic connections! Based on the videos I have watched, it doesn’t look like there is any crafting in the game. Therefore, you’ll be selling the resources you gather around Harmony as well as items from your farm in your “cozy farm shop.”

While earning money from all of your labor can be rewarding, you will also be able to use the items from your farm to fulfill requests at the Harmony Tree. Due to some greedy humans who wanted to cut down the Harmony Tree, the island sprouted thorny vines in order to protect itself. All of the humans, forest spirits, and animals fled, but a lone creature stayed behind to watch over the island. By fulfilling these requests, Harmony will finally be restored after all these years.

Wanderstop

If you love single-player narrative games, I highly recommend buying Wanderstop when it releases. At first, I was drawn into this game due to the art style and the thought of running a cozy, little tea shop. However, what truly piqued my interest was this game’s story. I almost never buy narrative games, but I am definitely getting this one and plan to write a Cozy Game Spotlight post all about it. A demo is currently available on Steam for this game as well.
In Wanderstop, your character is a former tournament fighter who has finally settled down and now works at a tea shop. For the first time ever, she learns what it means to live a relaxing, safe life – but she still needs to face the demons of her past to truly be happy. What I find beautiful about this game is that the creator, Davey Wreden, used his own personal experiences with burnout and hopelessness as his inspiration to develop it. He created this “unpleasant, uncomfortable story” because he felt incredibly burnt out with his last two works. Therefore, he wanted to try his hand at making a cozy game instead for some much needed relaxation. I can’t do Wanderstop justice like its creator can, so here is a quote from Davey about the idea behind his first ever cozy game:

“I had wanted to just do some pleasant work and then become all better, but healing is way more complicated than that. Healing is messy and it’s bitter, and I want to know how to do it. I want to believe it’s possible to leave your old self behind and become someone new – someone better than I am, someone more capable of rest, and calm, and inner peace. But God.. it’s so, so hard to do.” — Davey Wreden
